Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is real to over 3 million people in the USA every year. Some refer to it as the winter blues and it can start in fall and continue until spring. Here in Iowa it feels like the winter greys! Shorter daylight hours, and winter hardships are thought to contribute to the disorder. If you are suffering fatigue, loss of energy or depression, overeating/undereating weight gain or feeling grey enough to make you uncomfortable or concerned, you may be experiencing SAD. There are things you can do on your own that research shows is known to help.... like exercise, choosing fresh foods, and getting out in the day light and moving around....but don't hesitate to contact your health care provider if you have concerns!
